Huawei, a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is known for producing high-quality and affordably priced phones. However, due to a trade ban by the U.S. government, American companies, including Google, are prevented from doing business with Huawei. As a result, Huawei devices released after the ban took effect do not come with Google Mobile Services (GMS), which includes the Google Play Store, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Chrome.
While international versions of Huawei phones released before the ban typically included Google apps, newer models do not. For users whose devices lack the Google Play Store, several methods can be used to install it.
Huawei Phones Discussed for Google Play Store Installation
The following methods may be attempted on various Huawei and Honor devices. It’s important to note that these workarounds are primarily intended for models released after the U.S. trade ban was implemented in May 2019. Earlier models, such as the P30 series, originally launched with full access to Google services.

- Enable the option for Enable Installation from Unknown Sources. Acknowledge the security warning by tapping OK.
- Download the following three APK files:
- Install the three files in the order they are listed. It is recommended to use the latest available versions of these APK files.
- Once the installation is complete, open the Google Play Store from your app drawer.
- Sign in with your Google account to begin using the store.
Method 2: Install via GMS Installer
GMS Installer is an APK designed to streamline the installation process.
- In your phone’s Settings, go to Advanced Settings > Security and enable Installation from Unknown Sources.
- Download and install the GMS Installer APK onto your device.
- After installation, separately download the Google Play Store APK.
- Use a file manager to locate the Google Play Store APK and tap it to begin the installation, following the on-screen instructions.
- Launch the Google Play Store and sign in with your Google account.
Method 3: Install via Google Installer
This is another dedicated application for installing Google services.
- Download the Google Installer APK and the Google Play Store APK to your phone.
- Enable Unknown Sources in your device settings.
- Using a file manager, locate and install the Google Installer APK.
- Open the Google Installer app. Tap the large blue circle, followed by the yellow circle.
- The app will prompt you to install the Google Services Framework. Tap the red icon, accept the terms, and grant all necessary permissions.
- Finally, find and install the Google Play Store APK.
Method 4: Install via Googlefier
Developed by XDA Developers member bender_007, Googlefier is an application that automates the process. It is recommended to back up your phone’s data before proceeding.
Note: Googlefier is not compatible with devices running EMUI 11 or newer. To use this method, your device must be on EMUI 10 or an older version.
- Download and install the Googlefier app.
- Launch the app and grant all the required permissions.
- Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. The application will replace your existing backup app to restore LZPlay, which facilitates the GMS installation.
- Sign in to your Google account when prompted to complete the process.
Method 5: Install via G-Box
G-Box allows you to use Google apps within a virtual environment without installing GMS directly onto your phone’s system.
- Download the Gbox app from its official website.
- Install the app, accept the terms and conditions, and disable battery optimizations for Gbox when prompted.
- Open the app and tap “Check” in the top right corner.
- Enable the permissions for “Require permission” and “Battery optimization whitelist.”
- Tap on any recommended Google app within G-Box.
- Sign in to your Google account and install the app. An icon for the installed app can be added to your home screen.
- You can now install other Google apps through the G-Box interface.
Method 6: Using Google Services with GSpace
Similar to G-Box, GSpace is a third-party application that creates a virtual space on your phone to run Google apps.
- First, enable the “Unknown Sources” option on your Huawei device.
- Download and install GSpace from a trusted source.
- After installing GSpace, you can open it to access and download many apps from the Google Play Store.
While GSpace provides access to many popular applications, some apps may not be downloadable or may not update correctly. It is important to download such third-party apps only from reputable sources to ensure security.
